Final Project-
My plan was to make a stop motion video showing the transition from overwhelming depression to the feeling of happiness. I decided that with the time I had, a diptych would be just as effective.
Everyone's journey of mental health is different and its fairly common for artists to experience feelings of depression. My peer mentor was one of my best friends and roommate who is also an artist and also struggles with depression.
My mental health is constantly evolving- for better or worse and I used to not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel but since being hospitalized I am able to differentiate my moods and separate them from outside influence and I can feel happy again.
Sun - The song "Man on the Moon" by Zella Day always makes me feel happy and bright when I feel low.
"I'm just a man on the moon
I'm not coming down anytime soon
I'm just a man on the moon
Feet off the ground, I'm floating in you"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxIypo5BoUk
Transitional- The song "Shine" by Jason Mraz talks about how the moon and sun rely on each other, the sun has to shine on the moon to keep the light, which is very metaphorical for how I feel about mental health
Moon - The song "Nitesky" by Robot koch talks about how secluded and alone you can feel under the night sky (metaphorical for depression). He talks about it in the sense of a relationship with someone and I see this as the relationship I have with depression.
"No one knows what it's like
You and me, you and I
Underneath the night sky
You and me, you and I"

"Once upon a time there was a meeting of minds The sun and the moon made a deal with the sky One would take the morning and the other the night Together they would blanket the world with light But the moon had a shadow, he felt like a liar The sun was the only one who carried the fire The sun saw this, she kept on glowing Bound to the moon, never saying, "you owe me" She said I'll shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you I keep a lamp over you, glowing in my heart To keep from tripping over troublesome thoughts in the dark We ain't that different, we huddle underneath the same stars I see who you really are You're every creature, every man, every woman and child You're the closest thing I'll ever get to knowing God Like the sun to the moon, I'll send my love and light A love like ours, it'll fill the whole sky I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine on you (shine on you) I will shine, shine, shine on you Think of the people that you love the most Send them your light and hold them close Say I will shine on you, I will shine on you No matter the distance, the space, or the time Love travels in the speed of light I will shine on you, I will shine on you I will shine on you, I will shine on you And if we forget we are the chosen ones Turn your eyes to the attention of the morning sun Wherever you go, however you move The light is gonna shine directly to you Let it shine on you (shine on you)"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zkov1CS36po
