Personal Artifact
By: Ashley DuRard
Unfortunately living 6 hours away I wasn't able to get a hold of several of my best personal artifacts. However, one of my artifacts that I have had for a long time is a shirt from my mom that she had when she was in high school. I love vintage clothing and have always had an interest in collecting it so not only is this something given to me from my mom but also it has to do with my own personal interests.
In my project I started by layering the different angles of the wadded up shirt on top of each other in photoshop. I changed the opacity for each of the layers to create a sense of chaos. While the shirt makes me feel warm and comforted I struggle feeling this way from my mom sometimes.
I looked through the photos my mom had and found this of my mom and dad. My dad is wearing the shirt and my mom is wearing a jacket from high school that I also have. This picture is important to me because my parents separated when I was in middle school. I included this in the image because the shirt is from when my mom was in high school and my parents were high school sweethearts.
My final product I feel needs some revising but I like the direction it is headed. I used the lines across the image to represent the broken relationships that have occurred along the way.
