Project 3: Personal Artifact

My personal artifact:
I knew immediately that I wanted to use my mustard seed necklace because it was my great grandmother’s and she gave it to me before she passed away. She would always tell me to keep my faith close to my heart. This necklace has been a constant reminder.

Images used in final photo:

The first two photos were actual items my great grandmother had in her house. They are hanging on my wall at home so I thought it would be cool to incorporate those items somehow since this is her necklace. The last picture is of my mosaic coffee table. I am super into collage and paper art and wanted to see if I could recreate that kind of effect digitally. I also really enjoyed using brighter colors on the last project so I wanted to do that again but this time with more of an antique/fuzzy/muted aesthetic.

Concept/Message:
The mustard seed reminds us that small beginnings are important even when the odds are against you. “If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you”. Its all about small beginnings!  If there is something you have been wanting to do or a goal you have been wanting to achieve just START! Even if its a small step at least your starting and who knows where it will take you.

Final photo: 'Faith as small as a mustard seed'
