Artifact/Generations – Coleman Cris
This project was difficult for me to come up with a "narrative" behind my artifact(s) and combine it all into one image. I tend to put more value on my memories than the things that gif along with them and that didn't leave me with very many artifacts, but after trying several different ideas I landed on an image of my grandfather driving a Jeep in an off-roading event and I ran with the idea of his influence on my life.

I started off with taking a few self portraits in the clothes that my grandfather had and left to me when he passed away. I'm also wearing my camera because my grandfather left me money that allowed me to purchase it and also he did a lot of photography.

After placing myself in the center, I wanted to show the three generations on one part and then how our hobbies and interests throughout the years have played off one another. I started by adding my dad and grandfather in the top left.

After placing my composition, I was heavily influenced my older, more stylized movie posters to color and lay graphics on my image. here are the results.

I didn't use as many overlays for this project as in the previous one. Simply cropping and shifting my subjects seemed to make more sense for this project for me. For the colors, I used a simple gradient and then adjusted the colors and their balance.
